Satya (Truthfulness) – Living with Honesty and Integrity

Satya, or truthfulness, is one of the fundamental principles of yoga philosophy. Practicing Satya encourages us to be sincere with ourselves and others in our thoughts, words, and actions while balancing truth with kindness. Truthfulness, however, is not just about blunt honesty; it is about expressing truth with compassion and mindfulness.

A Journey in Thailand: A Lesson in Truth

This month, as I reflect on Satya, I am reminded of my time in Thailand. My yoga teacher, Santosh, introduced me to the Asato Maa mantra, which soon became one of my favorites. Chanting it daily brought me a deeper understanding of truth, wisdom, and the light that comes from knowledge.

Mantra - Asato Maa

Om Asato Maa Sad-Gamaya Lead me from the unreal to the real

Tamaso Maa Jyotir-Gamaya From darkness (ignorance) to light (knowledge)

Mrtyor-Maa Amrtam Gamaya From death to immortality

This mantra reminds me that living truthfulness is a journey that leads to clarity and wisdom. Through Satya, I cultivate a deeper connection with myself and the world around me, fostering relationships built on trust and authenticity.
